အသံုးဝင္ေသာ အဂၤလိပ္စကားအသံုးအႏႈန္းမ်ား(၂)

No wonder (မဆန္းပါဘူး)

You say no wonder when you think that something is not at all surprising in the circumstances:

မဆန္းပါဘူး (no wonder) ကို တစ္စံုတစ္ခုသည္ လံုး၀အံ့ၾသစရာမေကာင္းဟု ထင္ျမင္သည့္အခါတြင္ သံုးသည္။

1. No wonder your father is angry. You borrowed his car without permission and then crashed it.

    မင္းအေဖေဒါသထြက္ေနတာ မဆန္းပါဘူး။ သူ႔ကားကို သူ႔ခြင့္ျပဳခ်က္မရပဲလဲ ငွားသြားတယ္။ ျပီးေတာ့ တိုက္လာလိုက္ေသးတယ္။

2. 'Anne's upset.'

    Anne က စိတ္မခ်မ္းမသာျဖစ္ေနတယ္။

    'No wonder. She has just discovered that her boyfriend has been going out with another girl.'

    မဆန္းပါဘူး။ သူ႔ေကာင္ေလးက တစ္ျခားေကာင္မေလးတစ္ေယာက္နဲ႔ တြဲေနတာ သိသြားတယ္ေလ။

Ask me another! (တစ္ျခားဟာပဲေမးပါ)

You say ask me another! when somebody asks you a question that you cannot answer or know nothing about:

တစ္ျခားဟာပဲေမးပါ။ (ask me another!) ကို တစ္စံုတစ္ေယာက္ေမးသည့္ေမးခြန္းကို မေျဖႏိုင္ (သို႔) လံုး၀မသိသည့္ အခါတြင္ သံုးသည္။

1. 'Why has Bill decided to leave his job?'

    Bill က ဘာလို႔အလုပ္ထြက္ဖို႔ ဆံုးျဖတ္လိုက္တာလဲ။

    'Ask me another! I thought he liked working there.'

    တစ္ျခားဟာပဲေမးပါ။ ငါကေတာ့ သူဒီမွာ အလုပ္လုပ္ရတာ ေပ်ာ္တယ္ထင္ေနတာ။)

2. 'Where has Jill gone?'

    Jill က ဘယ္သြားတာလဲ

    'Ask me another! She told me that she would be at home all morning.'

    တစ္ျခားဟာပဲေမးပါ။ သူမကေျပာေတာ့ ဒီတစ္မနက္လံုး အိမ္မွာပဲရွိမယ္ေျပာတယ္။

The expression don't ask me!  is used in a similar way:

ငါ့မေမးနဲ႔ေလ (don't ask me!) ကို လည္း အလားတူသံုးႏိုင္သည္။

1. 'Why was the burglar alarm not on this morning?'

    ဘာလို႔ဒီမနက္ သူခိုးဖမ္းစက္မဖြင့္ထားတာလဲ

    'Don't ask me! I switched it on when I went to bed last night.'

    ငါ့မေမးနဲ႔ေလ။ မေန႔ညက အိပ္ရာ၀င္တုနး္ကေတာ့ ငါဖြင့္လိုက္တာပဲ။

There's no hurry (အလ်င္မလိုပါဘူး)

You tell someone that there's no hurrywhen they do not need to do something or go somewhere very quickly or very soon:

အလ်င္မလိုပါဘူး (there's no hurry)ကို တစ္စံုတစ္ခုလုပ္ရန္ (သို႔) တစ္ေနရာရာကို အလ်င္စလို (သို႔) ေစာေစာ သြားရန္ မလိုဟု ေျပာလိုသည့္အခါတြင္ သံုးသည္။

1. You can return the book to me when you have read it. There's no hurry.

    စာအုပ္ကို မင္းဖတ္ျပီးမွ ငါ့ျပန္ေပးပါ။ အလ်င္မလိုပါဘူး။

2. There's no hurry. The train does not leave until 10.30.

    အလ်င္မလိုပါဘူး။ ၁၀.၃၀ အထိရထားမထြက္ေသးပါဘူး။

The more the merrier (မ်ားေလေကာင္းေလပဲေလ)

The more people that are involved in an occasion the better or more enjoyable it will be:

ကိစၥတစ္စံုတစ္ခုတြင္ လူမ်ားမ်ားပါေလေလ ေကာင္းေလေလ

1. Certainly you can bring a friend to the patty. The more the merrier.

    ပါတီကို သူငယ္ခ်င္းေခၚလာလို႔ရတာေပါ့။ မ်ားေလေကာင္းေလပဲေလ။

2. We'd like as many people as possible to help decorate the hall for the party. The more the merrier.

    ဒီေဟာၾကီးကို ပါတီအတြက္ အလွဆင္ဖို႔ လူေတြ မ်ားနိုင္သေလာက္မ်ားမ်ားလိုခ်င္တယ္။ မ်ားေလေကာင္းေလပဲေလ။

On second thoughts (ထပ္စဥ္းစားၾကည္႔လိုက္ေတာ႔)

You say on second thoughtswhen you change a choice or decision:

ထပ္စဥ္းစားလိုက္ေတာ႔ (on second thoughts)

ကို ေရြးခ်ယ္မႈတစ္ခုခု(သို႔)ဆံုးျဖတ္ခ်က္တစ္ခုခုကို ျပင္လိုသည္႔အခါတြင္အသံုးျပဳနိုင္သည္။

1. I'll go by bus. No, on second thoughts I'll take the train. It'll be quicker.

    ငါဘတ္(စ)ကားနဲ႔သြားမယ္။ မဟုတ္ေသးပါဘူး၊ ထပ္စဥ္းစားၾကည္႔လိုက္ေတာ႔ ရထားပဲစီးေတာ႔မယ္။အဲ့ဒါက ပိုၿပိးေတာ႔ ျမန္လိမ္႔မယ္။

2. I'd like a glass of red wine, please. No, on second thoughts have a glass of . white.

    ေက်းဇူးျပဳၿပီး ၀ိုင္နီ တစ္ခြက္ေလာက္ ေပးပါ။ မဟုတ္ေသးဘူး၊ ထပ္စဥ္းစားၾကည္႔လိုက္ေတာ႔ ၀ိုင္ျဖဴတစ္ခြက္ပဲေသာက္ေတာ႔မယ္။
