အသံုးဝင္ေသာ အဂၤလိပ္စကားအသံုးအႏႈန္းမ်ား (၈)

Just a minute (ခဏေလးေစာင့္ပါ)

You say just a minute when you want someone to wait for a very short time:

ခဏေလးေစာင့္ပါ  just a minute ကို တစ္စံုတစ္ေယာက္အား အခ်ိန္အနည္းငယ္ ေစာင့္ေစလိုေသာအခါ အသံုးျပဳပါသည္။

  1. 'Can you give me Pat's phone number?'

      Pat ရဲ႕ ဖုန္းနံပါတ္ေပးႏိုင္မလား။

      'Just a minute and I'll look it up in my address book.'

      ခဏေလးေစာင့္ပါ။ လိပ္စာစာအုပ္ထဲမွာ ရွာေပးမယ္။

  2. 'Do you know where Ken's new house is?' 'Just a minute and ask my son. He's a friend of Ken's daughter.'

      Ken ရဲ႕အိမ္က ဘယ္နားမွာလဲဆိုတာ သိလား? ခဏေလးေစာင့္ပါ ငါ့သားကိုေမးလိုက္ဦးမယ္။ သူက Ken သမီးရဲ႕ သူငယ္ခ်င္းေလ။

Suit yourself! (မင္းႀကိဳက္သလိုသာလုပ္)

You say suit yourself! in an angry way to tell someone that they can do what they want even though that is not what you want:

မင္းႀကိဳက္သလိုသာလုပ္ suit yourself ကို သင္က မလုပ္ေစခ်င္ေသာ္လည္း ထိုအေၾကာင္းကိစၥႏွင့္ပတ္သက္ ၍ တစ္စံုတစ္ဦးအား ၄င္းႀကိဳက္သလို လုပ္ႏိုင္ေၾကာင္းကို စိတ္ဆိုးေသာအားျဖင့္ ေျပာရာတြင္ အသံုးျပဳသည္။

  1. Suit yourself! You can stay longer at the party if you like, but I'm going home now!

      မင္းႀကိဳက္သလိုသာလုပ္။ ပါတီမွာ မင္းအခ်ိန္ၾကာၾကာ ဆက္ေနခ်င္ရင္ေန။ ငါကေတာ့ အခုပဲ အိမ္ျပန္ေတာ့မယ္။

  2. I don't really want to go to the cinema this evening.'

      တကယ္ေတာ့ ဒီညေန ရုပ္ရွင္ရံုကို မသြားခ်င္ဘူး။

      'Suit yourself'!I’ll go by myself then!'

      မင္းႀကိဳက္သလိုသာလုပ္။ ဒါျဖင့္ရင္ ငါ့ဘာသာငါပဲ သြားေတာ့မယ္။
