အသံုးဝင္ေသာ အဂၤလိပ္စကားအသံုးအႏႈန္းမ်ား(၄)

I know (ငါသိျပီ)

You use I know when you have just had an idea or wish to make a suggestion:

ငါသိျပီ  (I know)  ကို အၾကံဥာဏ္ (သို႔) အၾကံေပးမႈတစ္ခုကို ျပဳလုပ္လိုသည့္အခါတြင္ အသံုးျပဳႏုိင္သည္။

    1. It's a holiday weekend. We really ought to do something interesting.

    ဒီစေန၊တနဂၤေႏြက ရံုးပိတ္ရက္ပဲ။ ငါတို႔တစ္ခုခု စိတ္၀င္စားစရာ လုပ္သင့္တယ္။

    I know, let's hire a boat.

    ငါသိျပီ။ ေလွတစ္စင္းငွားရေအာင္။

    2. We'll have to do something to raise money for the children's charity.

    ကေလးေတြရံပံုေငြအတြက္ ပိုက္ဆံရေအာင္ တစ္ခုခုလုပ္မွျဖစ္မယ္။

    I know, let's organize a race and get people to sponsor the runners.

    ငါသိျပီ။ အေျပးျပိဳင္ပြဲတစ္ခုက်င္းပေပးျပီး အေျပးသမားေတြကို စပြန္ဆာေပးဖို႕လူရွာရမယ္။

No such luck (ကံကုိမေကာင္းတာပါ)

You say no such luck to express disappointment that something has not happened:

ကံကိုမေကာင္းတာပါ (no such luck) ကို တစ္စံုတစ္ခုမျဖစ္ေပၚသည့္အတြက္ စိတ္ပ်က္မႈကို ျပသည့္အခါတြင္ အသံုးျပဳသည္။

    1. 'Did you get the job?'

    အလုပ္ရခဲ့လား။

    'No such luck! I didn't even get an interview!'

    ကံကိုမေကာင္းတာပါ။ အင္တာဗ်ဴးေတာင္မေျဖခဲ့ရဘူးေလ။

    2. We were hoping that it would be a sunny day when we went to the seaside, but no such luck! It rained all day.

    ပင္လယ္ကမ္းေျခကိုေရာက္ေတာ့ ေနသာတဲ့ေန႕တစ္ေန႔ျဖစ္မယ္လို႔ေမွ်ာ္လင့္ခ့ဲၾကတယ္ေလ။ ဒါေပမယ့္ ကံကိုမေကာင္းတာပါ တစ္ေနကုန္မိုးရြာေနတယ္ေလ။

Do the trick (အလုပ္ျဖစ္သြားတယ္)

You say that something has done the trick when it works or is successful in what you were trying to do:

အလုပ္ျဖစ္သြားတယ္ (do the trick) ကိုမိမိလုပ္ရန္ ၾကိဳးစားေနေသာအရာ ေအာင္ျမင္သြားေသာအခါတြင္ အသံုးျပဳပါသည္။

        1. The baby wouldn't sleep but I sang her a lullaby and that did the trick.

        ကေလးက လံုး၀မအိပ္ဘူးေလ ဒါေပမယ့္သူ႔ကို ငါ သားေခ်ာ့ေတးတစ္ပုဒ္ဆိုလိုက္တာ အလုပ္ျဖစ္သြားတယ္ေလ။

        2. We couldn't think how to amuse the children, but we took them to the seaside and that did the trick.

        ကေလးေတြကို ဘယ္လိုေပ်ာ္ေအာင္လုပ္ရမလဲဆိုတာ စဥ္းစားလို႔မရခဲ႔ဘူး။ ဒါေပမဲ႔ပင္လယ္ကမ္းေျခကိုလည္း ေခၚသြားေရာ အလုပ္ျဖစ္သြားတယ္ေလ။

Well done! (ေတာ္လိုက္တာ)

You say well done! when you are congratulating someone on being successful at something:

ေတာ္လိုက္တာ (well done!) ကို တစ္စံုတစ္ေယာက္အား ကိစၥတစ္ခုခုတြင္ ေအာင္ျမင္သည့္အတြက္ ခ်ီးမြမ္းရာတြင္ အသံုးျပဳသည္။

        1. I hear you passed all your exams. Well done!

        မင္းရဲ႕စာေမးပြဲေတြ အကုန္ေအာင္တယ္လို႔ၾကားတယ္။ ေတာ္လိုက္္တာ။

        2. Your cake has won first prize. Well done!

        မင္းရဲ႕ကိတ္မုန္႕က ပထမဆုရတယ္။

I couldn't care less (ငါ နည္းနည္းေလးမွ ဂရုမစိုက္ဘူး)

You use I couldn't care less when something is not at all important to you and you are not worried about it It is a more informal and less polite way of saying I don't care:

ငါ နည္းနည္းေလးမွ ဂရုမစိုက္ဘူး (I couldn’t care less) ကို တစ္စံုတစ္ရာသည္ သင့္အတြက္ လံုး၀ အေရးမႀကီးတဲ့အတြက္ သင့္အေနျဖင့္ ၄င္းႏွင့္ပတ္သက္၍ စိတ္မပူေၾကာင္း ေဖာ္ျပလိုေသာအခါ အသံုးျပဳသည္။ I don’t care ယူေသာ အသံုးအႏႈန္းထက္ ယဥ္ေက်းမႈနည္းၿပီး ပို၍ ရင္းႏွီးေၾကာင္း ေဖာ္ျပေသာ အသံုးအႏႈန္းျဖစ္သည္။

    1. I couldn't care less whether John comes to the party or not.

    John ပါတီပြဲကို လာလာ မလာလာ ငါနည္းနည္းေလးမွ ဂ႐ုမစိုက္ဘူး။

    2. My sister says that she doesn't like this dress, but I couldn't care less. She knows nothing about fashion.

    င့ါညီမက ဒီ၀တ္စံုကို သူမၾကိဳက္ဘူးလို႔ေျပာတယ္။ ဒါေပမယ့္ ငါနည္းနည္းေလးမွ ဂ႐ုမစိုက္ဘူး သူမက ဖက္ရွင္အေၾကာင္း ဘာမွမသိဘူးေလ။
