အသံုးဝင္ေသာ အဂၤလိပ္စကားအသံုးအႏႈန္းမ်ား (၇)

At this rate (ဒီပံုအတိုင္းဆိုရင္)

You say at this rate to suggest what is going to happen if things continue to develop or progress in the same way as at present:

ဒီပံုအတိုင္းဆိုရင္ at this rate ကို ကိစၥတစ္စံုတစ္ခုသည္ လက္ရွိႏႈန္းအတိုင္းသာ ဆက္လက္ ျဖစ္ေပၚ (သို႔) တုိးတက္ေနပါက မည္သို႔ျဖစ္လာႏိုင္သည္ကို အၾကံျပဳေျပာဆုိလိုသည့္အခါတြင္ အသံုးျပဳပါသည္။

  1. The traffic is very bad. At this rate we won't get there before dark.

      ကားလမ္းပိတ္တာ ေတာ္ေတာ္ဆိုးေနတယ္။ ဒီပံုအတိုင္းဆိုရင္ ငါတုိ႔ အဲ႔ဒီကို မေမွာင္ခင္မေရာက္ႏိုင္ဘူး။

  2. The builders have made very little progress this week. At this rate the house will certainly not be finished before Christmas.

      အိမ္ေဆာက္တဲ့သူေတြက ဒီတစ္ပါတ္မွာ နည္းနည္းပဲျပီးတယ္။ ဒီပံုအတိုင္းဆုိရင္ အိမ္က ခရစ္စမတ္ မတိုင္ခင္ လံုး၀ မျပီးႏုိင္ဘူး။

With all due respect (အားေတာ့နာပါတယ္။)

You use with all due respect in a formal context when you disagree with what somebody has just said:

အားေတာ့နာပါတယ္ with all due respect ကို တစ္စံုတစ္ေယာက္ေျပာဆိုလုိက္သည့္စကားကို သေဘာမတူေၾကာင္း ကိုယဥ္ေက်းစြာေျပာဆုိရာတြင္ အသံုးျပဳသည္။

  1. With all due respect, I think that your statement is not quite accurate.

      အားေတာ့နာပါတယ္ ခင္ဗ်ားေျပာတဲ့အေၾကာင္းက သိပ္ေတာ့ မတိက်ဘူးဗ်

  2. With all due respect, I feel that you are not telling the whole truth.

      အားေတာ့နာပါတယ္။ က်ေနာ္ကေတာ့ ခင္ဗ်ားအျဖစ္မွန္အကုန္လံုးကုိ မေျပာသြားဘူးလို႔ ခံစားရတယ္။

Then (ဒီလိုဆိုရင္)

You say then when you wish to show that what you are saying is related in some way to something that has been said before:

      အဲဒီအလုပ္ကို မလိုခ်င္ဘူးလို႔ မင္းေျပာတယ္။ အဒီလိုဆိုရင္ ဘာ့ေၾကာင့္ ေလွ်ာက္သလဲ။

  2. There's no public transport to the area and we don't have a car. How are we going to get there then?

      အဲဒီရပ္ကြက္ကို အမ်ားသံုးသယ္ယူပို႔ေဆာင္ေရးလည္း မရွိဘူး၊ ၿပီးေတာ့ ငါတို႔မွာ ကားလည္း မရွိဘူး။ ဒီလိုဆိုရင္ အဲဒီေနရာကို ငါတို႔ ဘယ္လိုသြားမွာလဲ။

Watch out! (သတိထား)

You say watch out! to warn people of possible danger or difficulty:

What out! သတိထား ကို လူေတြကို ျဖစ္လာႏိုင္တဲ့ အႏၱရာယ္ (သို႔) အခက္အခဲႏွင့္ ပတ္သက္၍ သတိေပးလိုေသာအခါ အသံုးျပဳသည္။

  1. Watch out! The floor is wet and you might slip.

      သတိထား။ ၾကမ္းခင္းက ေရစိုေနတယ္။ ခင္ဗ်ား ေခ်ာ္လဲလိမ့္မယ္။

  2. Watch out! He's got a gun!

      သတိထား။ သူ႕မွာ ေသနတ္ပါတယ္။

You bet! (ေသခ်ာတာေပါ့)

You say you bet! to show that you definitely intend to do what has just been said:

You bet (ေသခ်ာတာေပါ့)ကို အခုေလးတင္ေျပာလိုက္ေသာ အေၾကာင္းအရာတစ္ခုကို အေသအခ်ာျပဳလုပ္ရန္ ရည္ရြယ္ေၾကာင္းကို ေဖာ္ျပရာတြင္ အသံုးျပဳပါသည္။

  1. 'Enjoy tonight's party!'

      ဒီည ပါတီမွာ ေပ်ာ္ခဲ့ေနာ္။

      'You bet I will!'

      ေပ်ာ္မွာ ေသခ်ာတာေပါ့။

  2. Will you be at the football match on Saturday?'

      စေနေန႔ ေဘာလံုးပဲြကို လာမွာလား။

      You bet!

      ေသခ်ာတာေပါ့။
